7th Take The Troops Fishing Day
On behalf of all the Members and Officers of the Club, I would like to thank all the Captains that participated, Osprey Oaks Marina for hosting every Day that we have had, those that cooked and and anyone else that made this day a huge success for the Marines from Camp Lejeune. Other contributors to the day’s event were Coastal Marine and Sports, The Reel Outdoors, Piggly Wiggly of Swansboro, Chuck Stanley, Capt. Dave on the Continental Shelf, Bogue Inlet Fishing Pier, Country-Aire Rental Inc., Ed & Mary Ann Watkins.
The Onslow Bay Saltwater Fishing Club of Swansboro held their 7th Annual Take the Troops Fishing Day this past Saturday that was hosted by Osprey Oaks Marina, rte. 25 and Broad Creek.
The OBSFC is credited with staging the first event of this kind in the U. S. in 2003 that has now spread nationwide. The event took on different names at different locations, its all about taking the Military out for a day on the water.
Bill Raab of Stella was the event coordinator this year. Many of the prizes were donated by The Reel Outdoors of Emerald Isle.
20 to 25 MPH winds prevented many boats from getting offshore, however a wide variety of fish were caught inshore, much to the pleasure of our guests.
